BERLIN -Charité Campus Benjamin Franklin

Built throughout the 60s of the last century, the CBF was the second large project of the Berlin based Benjamin Franklin Foundation after the House of World Cultures.

Berlin’s University hospital Charité was „lost“ for the western part of the city, since it was now located in the Soviet sector of divided Berlin. The necessity for a new hospital was obvious, and in October 1959 the ground-breaking ceremony took place in Berlin Steglitz.

Below, some subjcetive perspectives of this very strange building – in no way exhausting. Maybe I will add some pics when I come around again. Especially the impressive layout – which follows some functional consindertaions – can unfortenately not be seen. Remarkably enough, there is a facade which has a uncommon strcuture …
